Forever responding to violent deaths

We marched from Farragut High School in a long group to see for ourselves the house in which Fred Hampton and Mark Clark had been murdered by Chicago Police the night before. We observed the thousand of bullet holes fired from outside into a house in which a small group of people were asleep. Despite police claims, there was no evidence of shooting from inside. This was before videophones and social media. Few people in the outside world or mainstream media cared.

This photo was published in a 2019 issue of Chicago Review along with a story of mine about our school's response to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King the year before.
