I read a poem everyday (#2)

Although one isn't often enough.

Today I read "My Two Aunts" by Jim Daniels.

The poem is included in Martin Espana's collection,

What Saves Us: Poems of Empathy and Outrage in the

Age of Trump.

Of the two aunts,

One works at McDonalds.

The other at Burger King.

One lives in Newark.

The other in Memphis.

Their husbands are dead.

Or gone.

Children grown and fat.

Poem about the realities,

Many of us face,

Living the American Dream.
